Beth Ditto Rocks Jean Paul Gaultier
We’re loving Beth Ditto’s look as she worked the catwalk at the Jean Paul Gaultier Ready to Wear show for Spring/ Summer 2011 at Paris Fashion Week this past Sunday.
Ditto, who fronts the band The Gossip and is a UK size 28, has become a fearless icon for plus-size fashionistas. She recently put her name to a clothing range for Evans.
“I don’t understand all these women who say they feel betrayed by fashion. A piece of clothing can’t talk — it can’t tell you that you can’t have it — so really, you’re just telling yourself that,” she told the Times in 2009. “You make yourself the victim, because if you want clothes that bad, then make them yourself. You have to get creative if you’re fat.”

I love the fact that JPG put Beth on the runway. I am a big fan of Gossip because of her and how she stands up for plus size women! And I agree totally with her saying that you have to be creative if you’re fat, because so many designers ignore the plus size population or at least ignore the fact that we may want to be fashion forward as well. Kudos to Beth and JPG!
