I just had to share this needlepoint creation because it took me about a year and a half to finish! It’s for my stepmother. She wants one for each dog she has owned in her life. This is the Springer Spaniel and he’s called “The Viscount”. I’ve now started the Dalmation who’s called “The Aristocrat”.
Every so often while I was working on it, I’d look down and think, “Wow, I’m spending hours of my life needlepointing a dog in aristocratic clothing! What does this say about me?”
Needless to say, she was most appreciative. Luckily she does needlepoint herself, so she understands how time-consuming it is. She says never give needlepoint away to someone who doesn’t do it themselves.
We’re already fans of Dove’s “Real Beauty” campaign which started in 2004 and makes use of real women with real bodies as models. The campaign showcases Dove products, but it also works to boost women’s self-esteem.
Dove’s latest campaign, “The Ad Makeover,” combats the negative advertisements women are confronted with every day. Specifically, Dove targets those annoying, ubiquitous ads that pop up on the side of your computer screen that scream at you about your “jelly rolls” or “muffin tops”. Dove invites women to go online and create alternative, empowering ads.
As a result, women will be able to see colourful, positive body-image ads alongside their profiles.
In related news, a recent study discovered that actively engaging in negative talk about one’s body causes a definite increase in depression over time. This study inspired a writer at Styleist.com to start an “I Promise To Stop Saying Negative Things About My Body Jar”. Any time someone made a negative body comment in the office about, they were fined $1, with proceeds going to Girls Inc.
Muse modeling agency posted this hot promotional video on YouTube.
It features the agency’s amazing curvy models posing for the camera, and includes Harriet Coleman, who is the model for Anna’s Spring-Summer 2012 Black Label campaign imagery.
…in her feather print belted shirt dress from the Spring-Summer 2012 Black Label collection.
She wore it into the office yesterday and we just had to share!
We’re loving the YouTube fashion program “Big Girl in a Skinny World” based on the beloved Marie Claire magazine column of the same name written by Nicolette Mason.
Marcy Guevara hosts the YouTube show which will definitely be featuring some of Anna’s clothes in the near future. Guevara describes herself as “a curvy girl obsessed with looking and feeling fabulous in a world where it seems like fashion only caters to skinny women.”
The show promises to “change your fashion attitude” as Guevara pulls together some of her “best fashion tips and the world’s most knowledgeable experts to help you look and feel amazing every day, on every occasion. ”
This first installment is called “Plus-Size Fashion Inspiration from Style Icons and Celebrities”.

We were very excited to catch a couple of Anna’s dresses featured recently in episode 2 of the BBC series The Syndicate.
Anna’s snake print jersey gathered dress is part of a scene where Denise, played by actress Lorraine Bruce, goes on a huge shopping spree after winning the lottery. Denise later wears Anna’s velvet jersey pleat dress to a party.
This is my first ever purchase from Anna Scholz, and I love it! I wore it to work for our exhibition opening.
