Anna Joins Jackie for Turkish Delight!

September 16, 2013 / 0 Comments

Earlier this year, our super fashionable accounts manager, Jackie, took a trip to Istanbul to visit her friend, Mehmet. For the journey, she stuffed her suitcase full of Anna Scholz styles and promised us that she’d document her various looks abroad.

Though her adventures were many, Jackie has provided here a mini travelogue, including all the Anna outfits she wore along the way!

JACKIE’S TRAVEL JOURNAL:

Istanbul is divided by a body of water called the Bosphorus. The Asian side of the city on one side of the water, where Mehmet lives, is called  Bostancı; the European side includes the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace and Taksim Square, where the riots occurred.

SATURDAY, MAY 18, 2013

We caught a “fill-up” on Baghdad Avenue, a little yellow bus that fills up with passengers before it departs.

Later, we went across the Bosphorus by ferry from Kadıköy on the Asian side of Istanbul to the European side of Istanbul… arriving at Eminönü

Sultanahmet Camii– the Blue Mosque…(tick!).

Ladies visiting the mosque must be covered out of respect… Anna’s spirograph print maxi dress was an obvious choice, really.

SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2013

Ferry trip to the Princes’ Islands…(tick!). Büyükada (“Big Island”) is the largest of nine Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara, near Istanbul. Büyükada has two peaks. We climbed İsa Tepesi, the one nearest to the ferry landing.

Wild horses roam the island… I paddled in the sea….Anna’s rose print maxi dress was perfect for this magical setting.

Later, we had a lovely meal out and Turkish tea. Okay, photo for Darren of the Anna Scholz jumpsuit I wore that evening…(tick!).

Today, Mehmet had challenged me to: “Find the Grand Bazaar by yourself without getting lost! Catch the ferry to Kabataş… it’s easy!!” he said.

Okay, so the local ferry to Kabataş only operates at rush hour and the next one wasn’t until 5pm! Decided to try and find my way to the other ferry terminal we used on Saturday to visit the Blue Mosque… err mild panic as I might be on the wrong ferry…

On the way, I see the gorgeous Blue Mosque again… with all six minarets.

Yay!! I found the Grand Bazaar!

My reward for finding the Grand Bazaar: a passion martini (complemented by Anna’s silk crepe de chine snake print tunic).

Emerald snake print tunic and jeans photo for Darren… (tick!).

TUESDAY, 21 MAY, 2013

Very sad to be leaving today. Just enough time for one last cuddle with Mehmet’s cat, Bitter (wearing Anna’s snakeskin print jersey dress).

PS: The Turkish delight I bought for my work colleagues at the studio was a good call! It actually was bought at Tesco in Instanbul…LOL!
