Visiting the Isabella Blow exhibition – Interns Berna & Anna

March 5, 2014 / 0 Comments

Two of our interns took the chance to visit The Isabella Blow exhibition at Somerset House last week.  They wanted to share their day and write about how amazing the exhibition was.

‘Yesterday we had the chance to visit the fashion exhibition” Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!” at Somerset House. The exhibition is presented by the Isabella Blow Foundation and Central Saint Martins celebrating her extraordinary and unique wardrobe. Isabella was known for her eye-catching and artistic way to style. This is the main focus of the exhibition, which presents over a hundred pieces from her incredible and eccentric collection.

It is dominated by pieces from her most favoured designers such as Alexander McQueen, Manolo Blahnik and Philip Treacy.

Philip Treacy’s creative hat designs were especially fascinating. They come in every colour and form that a human can imagine. The best example for that is perhaps “Marilyn’s lips” hat .

It reminds us of Isabella Blow’s love for red lips. Even her letters and business cards are signed with a deep red kiss.

The exhibition ends with an amazing and extravagant fashion show of Alexander McQueen and Philip Treacy.

Through our trip to Somerset House we came to the conclusion that clothes, no matter how special and unusual they are, should be worn.’
